Hot on the heels of the RedEye system mentioned here, comes Gear4's Unity.
Operating on a similar principal, the Apple iPhone, iPod or iPad connects to the Unity wirelessly (via Bluetooth). The Unity device stores the remote control configuration and emits infra-red signals in a 360 degree field. It does not offer the dock / charging cradle feature of the RedEye but is expected to retail at around £100.
It will offer full and customiseable remote control functionality for TV's, home cinema systems and any other infra-red device.
Combine the Unity with Apple TV or Mac Mini and Apple's new iTunes Remote software to turn your iPhone or iPad into a complete, graphical, touch-screen control solution for your entire music and movie collection!
