Multi-room Sound Systems
A large part of our business is installation of multi-room sound systems (also known as whole house audio systems). We are able to supply and install most brands of system, having but tend to recommend Sonos, Simple Audio, Nuvo, and (for high end systems) a custom engineered system.
We have experience working with Linn Knekt and DS systems and are able to integrate the two using our own RTI control drivers.
Which multi-room system best suits your project will depend on a balance of features including:
- Audio quality
- Number of zones
- Power in each zone
- Style of keypads
- Control by 3rd party equipment, e.g. iPad, Crestron, RTI
- Source equipment control
- Interfaces to media / music servers and iPods

Audio Design Associates (ADA)
ADA have a reputation for fantastic audio quality and amplifiers capable of delivering significantly higher power than other systems. ADA's multi room systems are particularly useful for large numbers of rooms - Suite 32 can be expanded up to 96 zones or 64 inputs! ADA produce a range a keypads and touch-screens (http://www.ada.net/products/av/touch_keypads.php), and all systems can be integrated with third party control systems e.g. RTI, Crestron, Control4, etc.
Nuvo Technologies
Nuvo Technologies are an American company specialising in (actually, solely designing and producing) multi-room audio systems. They have a reputation for offering great sound quality at a resonable price point and have a number of award winning products, including the MusicPort audio server and content aggregation appliance and the T2-DAB twin FM/DAB tuner.
Nuvo multi-room systems are often used in conjunction with a control system (e.g. AMX, Crestron or RTI) to provide whole home automation via one set of keypads or touchscreens.
For a relatively cost effective iPad or iPhone control, Nuvo can be integrated with the ControlFX range of products. An image of the (particularly nice) interface is shown to the left. The same system and interface can be used to provide complete home-cinema or automation control.
Essentia E6G
The Nuvo Essentia system is a high-quality multi-room sound system with 6 sources and 6 amplified zones. The keypads are simple, attractive design incorporating control buttons and a 1.0" OLED screen, displaying source information including metadata from iPods or media servers. Optionally, Nuvo Essentia can be used with the larger monochrome OLED, or colour touch-screen LCDs designed for the Grand Concerto.
Grand Concerto
Nuvo's Grand Concerto system offers 6 sources and 8 zones, of which 6 are equipped with 2x 40W amplifiers and the remaining two are line-level only. An expander can increase the zone-count to 16.
The Grand Concerto is usually supplied with 2.7" monochrome OLED keypads. If the system is connected to a media server, we recommend using the 3.5" colour LCD touch-screen controllers.
